BRIDGING THE MINISTRY 'GAP'
The average length of tenure for a church staff member
The amount of time in one role to hit your ministry ‘sweet spot’
The gap between ministry ‘sweet spot’ and average tenure
Recent research shows that the typical ministry staff member in a local church lasts about 3.5 years in their position. Church strategist Thom Ranier suggests that a pastor’s most fruitful years in ministry start around year 5. Closing this gap is a huge key to ministry success and longevity. Job Seeker Bootcamp will give you the skills to choose your next ministry job wisely to help you get to that five-year sweet spot.
We'll walk you, start-to-finish, through a successful job search. Some of the topics we'll cover:
laying the foundation
So... you're in transition, looking for your next church staff role. Where do you start? What should you spend your time doing? We'll cover the essentials and to get you started.
The Online Visit
Visiting a potential church can be stressful and exhausting. We'll give you some great guidance on what to do when you visit, questions to ask, and a checklist of things to do before you leave.
developing your resume
Your resume is your first impression. You can't afford to swing and miss on what you include (and don't include) on your resume. We'll guide you step-by-step to an effective resume.
determining financials
This is a great time to take a closer look at your family budget. How much salary do you need to have to make a move? How do you factor in the cost of living? We'll help you answer.
where to find jobs
The key to finding your next ministry role is a combination of working your personal network and looking in the right places for open positions. We'll show you how to do it effectively.
negotiating salary
You're interested. They're interested. How do you evaluate any potential job offer? We'll give you proper protocol for negotiating salary and benefits, vacation time, moving expenses, etc.
before your interview
You never want to just wing your first interview. We'll show you the things you need to do BEFORE you talk with a church for the first time. A little time researching will pay off big-time!
before you say yes
There are some final things that you should consider BEFORE you accept the job offer. Be sure that you seriously weigh all of these factors before you accept any job offer.
your first interview
Many church staff need help (or at least a boost in confidence) when it comes to the interview stage of the search. We'll coach you on how to make a great first impresession.
Create cover letters
Your cover letter is an important 'first-impression' that will tell potential churches about you and your abilities. We'll tell you how to knock it out of the park with your cover letter.
